"A Bit Confusing in Places"
Some parts were confusing, and I feel like that should be addressed. I don’t mind figuring things out a little, but the instructions or layout should be clearer so customers aren’t left guessing. Hopefully they take responsibility for making it easier to understand.

"Renewal was easy, even if I hate having to do it"
I had to renew my Smart Serve, it was quick and simple. I still find it annoying that you have to renew it at all, and logging in to deal with another renewal is always a bit of a hassle, but the actual process wasn’t bad. I followed the steps, didn’t get confused, didn’t have to call anyone, and didn’t have to sit around waiting. I’m always complaining about these online renewal things because they usually take forever, but this one was smooth and took less time than I expected. So yeah, still annoying to have to renew, but it worked fine for me.

"Nice to do on my own time"
I liked that I could do the Smart Serve course whenever I had time. Pausing and coming back later was easy. It took me a little longer than I expected, but the flexibility made it fine. Overall, good.

"Super quick ID check"
The ID check was really quick and easy for me. I didn’t run into any issues at all, so I’d definitely recommend it if you just want something simple and hassle-free

I had to look up the refund rules, they weren’t nothing too complicated. Seemed fair to me and easy enough to figure out.

"Had a hassle with my employer accepting it"
The course itself was fine and not too hard, but ugh, my employer didn’t accept the certificate at first. I kind of panicked for a second because I thought it was going to mess up my start date, so I had to send a bunch of emails and explain everything, which was frustrating.
It did get worked out eventually, but it took extra time I really wasn’t expecting. Overall, not the worst experience, but definitely not as smooth as I hoped.

"Mostly reliable, but the downtime matters"
Overall, it works most of the time and I’ve been able to use it without too many issues. That said, there has been some downtime, and I think it’s only fair to point that out because people deserve to know what they’re paying for. It’s not a dealbreaker for me, but reliability should be taken seriously.

The site wasn’t exactly the easiest for me to use. The menus felt kind of confusing, and I’m sure I had to restart twice before I got things sorted out.

"Easy to see when the certificate expires"
I was able to find the certificate validity details quickly, which made it really easy to check when it expires. It’s a small thing, but it gave me peace of mind knowing exactly where I stood

i finished the course without much trouble, but i didn’t come away feeling very confident about responsible service. some sections felt a bit rushed, and the examples were basic. it got me through and i passed, but i was expecting a little more guidance.

"I was thinking this would take way..."
I was thinking this would take way longer, but I ended up finishing it in about 3 hours. Some sections were a little slow, like I kept waiting for them to pick up, but then again it was easy to follow and I just knocked it out in one sitting

"Good course, but I wish there were more language options"
I took the course on smartserve.ca and overall it was straightforward. I did mine in English, and I do think it’s helpful that French is available too.

That said, I had mixed feelings about the language options. The course itself is fine, but if English isn’t your first language, some sections could feel a little overwhelming or harder to get through.

In the end, I still had a decent experience. The site worked well for me, I passed without too much trouble, but I do think adding more languages would make it a lot better for more people.

"Not sure I’d fully trust it"
The site worked fine for the most part, but I never really felt confident using it. Some of the info was kind of unclear, and when I reached out for help, the answers didn’t really line up. One person would say one thing, then I’d get a slightly different answer later, which just made it more confusing. Overall, it wasn’t a terrible experience, but it definitely left me unsure.

"Got it done for my bar job"
I needed to get my Smart Serve for work since it’s legally required in Ontario. The site was easy to use and I got through it without much trouble. I did feel a bit dismissed when I had a question, like it was just something I should already know, but at least I finished everything quickly and got my certificate fast.

"Accessibility help didn’t really live up to the promises"
I needed some accessibility support while taking the course, and it was more frustrating than I expected. A few parts of the course were hard to use, and when I reached out, the response felt like a copy-paste answer. They kept saying they’re “working to make things more accessible,” but that’s such a vague promise when you’re trying to actually get through the material right now. I did finish in the end, but it took way more effort than it should have. I really hope they make some real improvements instead of just saying they will.

"Helpful, but am I missing something?"
I used SmartServe to do the online course before starting a serving job, some of it was useful. The real-life examples about checking IDs and handling drunk customers actually made sense and felt like stuff I’d use on the job.

That said, am I missing something, or did some sections feel way longer than they needed to be? A few points got repeated so much that I started zoning out, and the site lagged on me once, which was frustrating because I was just trying to get it done after work.

Overall, it did what it was supposed to do and I passed, so I can’t complain too much. I just wish the whole thing was a bit smoother and less boring to get through.

At first, the signup process seemed straightforward, so my initial impression was positive. But once I got to the payment section, it wasn’t as clear as I expected. I had to pause and double-check what I was actually being charged for. It wasn’t a huge problem, but I do think it could be a bit more upfront.

I was a little nervous going in because I always worry about getting fooled by a confusing process or unexpected issues, but everything went really smoothly. The proctor was nice, helpful, and made the whole exam feel much less stressful.

"First impression was how fast it all happened"
My first impression was just how quick and easy the whole thing felt. I finished the course and my certificate showed up way faster than I expected. I didn’t have to wait around or chase anyone for it, which was a nice surprise. Overall, really smooth experience and I’m happy with it.
